
Gianmarco Peterlongo

Gianmarco Peterlongo is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Global Postdoctoral Fellow jointly affiliated with the University of Milan (Italy) and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). He received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Bologna in 2022 and published the book Nella trama dell’algoritmo (In the meshes of the algorithm), a multi-sited research on platform labour between Italy and Argentina. His current MSCA-funded project, PEACH, “Platformised Economies Across Contexts of High Informality,” investigates the relationship between platform and economic informality in Brazil and Italy through an ethnographic approach. His research interests span platform capitalism, craftwork, and the refusal of work. His work has been published in international leading peer-reviewed journals in the social sciences.
