This book examines how technological change has reshaped journalism and the everyday working lives of journalists. As news production has become faster, more flexible, and increasingly organized through digital technologies, traditional newsroom routines have been transformed, with consequences for working conditions, professional identities, and the time available for reporting, research, and reflection. Drawing on research conducted with journalists in São Paulo between 2009 and 2012, the book explores how these workers understand journalism, their own labour, and the transformations taking place within the profession. Developed collectively by researchers at the Centre for Research on Communication and Work at the University of São Paulo, it offers an empirical account of journalism at a pivotal moment in the digital transformation of media work.
