Summary
Other Tech Worlds Are Possible is a research and knowledge mobilization project that uses comics to document and circulate the experiences of worker collectives across Latin America that are building alternative relationships with technology. Co-produced with the collectives themselves, the series combines research and artistic storytelling to explore how workers develop, appropriate, and govern technologies in connection with struggles for social justice, solidarity, and collective autonomy. The project challenges dominant Silicon Valley narratives of technological development by foregrounding political, social, technological, and artistic imagination from below.
The first volume, co-produced with the Tech Sector of Brazil’s Homeless Workers’ Movement (MTST), explores technologies rooted in struggles for housing and popular digital sovereignty. The second, developed with the Argentine Federation of Technology Cooperatives (FACTTIC), focuses on tech cooperativism and collective approaches to technological development.
Published in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, the series uses comics both as a research output and as a form of knowledge mobilization aimed at making worker-led technological alternatives visible to broader publics.
