Godwin Simon

Godwin Simon is a UTSC postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Arts, Culture and Media, University of Toronto. He researches the intersections of digital platforms, streaming, and AI in the Nigerian media industries. Godwin obtained his PhD in Media Studies from Queensland University of Technology, Australia where he examined the economic and cultural implications of streaming for the Nigerian film industry (Nollywood). Godwin’s research interests include media industry studies, platform studies, digital and creative labor, political economy of media, GenAI and media, and transnational media. Godwin has published in internationally recognised peer reviewed journals such as AI & Society, Convergence, International Journal of Cultural Studies, and Transnational Screens. His monograph, Nollywood on Demand, will be published by the MIT Press.
