Tiago Lopes holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and an MA in Language Studies from the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel). He also holds a specialist degree in Strategy and Contemporary International Relations from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), as well as bachelor’s degrees in International Relations from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) and in Portuguese and English Language and Literature from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar).

 

His research focuses on Materialist Discourse Analysis and Critical Digital Studies, particularly platformization, digital labour, and digital communication. His doctoral dissertation examined the discursive processes of platformization and how digital platforms reshape labour, subjectivity, and meaning-making in contemporary society. He is a member of the diADorim Research Group, coordinated by Greciely Cristina da Costa.
